Your pledge counts!
This year again, our participants will go across the three regions tp take part in the Climate Classic Belgium to raise awareness of the effects of climate change. However, attention alone is not enough. That is why, when you register, you will make a Climate Pledge.
What is a Climate Pledge?
A Climate Pledge is an action you will take to improve your impact on the climate. From yourself or from others. For example, will you eat no meat for a month, enthuse your neighbours about solar panels, join an energy cooperative or put pressure on the fossil industry through Follow This?

With which climate action are you helping the climate and environment? Check the list below for inspiration.
Reduce the climate impact of your food
- I promise to eat vegetarian or plant-based for a month
- I promise to try a new vegetarian recipe every week and share it with friends
- I promise to use only plant-based dairy in for my morning coffees
Put your money to work
- I move my savings to a bank that doesn’t lend to fossil fuel companies
- I promise to invest at least €1,000 in a local wind project by end of the year
- I research the sustainability of my pension fund’s investments and share my findings on social media
A climate friendly home
- I promise to buy a water-saving shower head by Christmas
- I promise to insulate my home by cavity wall or roof insulation within 24 months
- I promise to install solar panels on my roof by next summer
Keep climate on the agenda
- I pledge to serve only vegetarian or vegan food at parties or events I organise
- I pledge to have 5 climate conversations with friends, family, colleagues or acquaintances
- I pledge to share 5 positive social media posts about my sustainable choices by the end of the year
Encourage your employer
- I pledge to have a conversation with our HR department about making our mobility policy more sustainable
- I pledge to start a Green Team within our company to look together at where we can make savings
- I pledge to make a plan for the next 12 months to reduce emissions from our business travel by 50%
Trains, bikes, walking shoes
- I promise to plan my next holiday or conference by train
- I promise to set up a cycling challenge with at least 10 colleagues
- I promise to leave my car at home three days a week and use public transport or bicycle instead
Join a movement
- I pledge to become a member of my local energy cooperative
- I pledge to make a €20 monthly donation to an NGO working on climate policy
- I pledge to participate in the national climate demonstration in Brussels in October
Buy climate concious
- I promise to choose products with a sustainability label such as Fairtrade or from a company that is B-corp certified
- I promise to not buy impulsively and check first if I can borrow, rent or reuse something instead
- I promise to do my shopping at a packaging-free shop at least once a week
